Tessa Leuwsha lives and works in Suriname. She wrote the multi-nominated The Parbo-blues and Solo, A Love, Plantation Wildlust and the literary non-fiction books Fansi’s Silence and The Tramp, in search of Suriname’s resilience. On Fansi’s Silence she based her successful and internationally screened documentary Mother Suriname Mama Sranan. In addition to her own books, Tessa Leuwsha wrote a foreword to Anton de Kom’s We Slaves of Surnam, among others.
