Marcel Vaarmeijer is a writer and freelance journalist. He has worked as a telegraph operator in the Royal Navy and at Shell. He made his debut in the student magazine Propria Cures and since 1989 he has published poems, stories and novels. His first children’s book, Boom, Away!, about the fireworks disaster in Enschede, was published in 2007. Both Wendy’s Mother (2012) and Su-Su-Superstar (2013) were selected as Core Titles by young readers. He has since published three novels, a detective story, and three children’s books.
